Pumpernickel Bread Recipe Outback

It is often known as the “typical” german bread, and it is also popular in other european countries like russia, ukraine, belarus, poland, etc. Traditional german pumpernickel contains no colouring agents.

Preheat the oven to 375°. 1 cup whole wheat flour. Add the wheat flour, cocoa powder, and salt to the water mixture and mix on low speed until combined.

Combine sugar, wheat flour, rye flour, 1/2 c of the the white flour, gluten, salt and cocoa in large stand mixer bowl, whisk together. Soften yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Discard the plastic wrap and bake the pumpernickel bread for 35 minutes, until the crust is dark brown.

Add 2 tablespoons browning and seasoning sauce and 1 cup sour starter to dough; Dough at bread maker + waiting time: (90 minute prep time includes rising time).

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper, and set aside. If you have a bread machine, you can use it for kneading the bread (you'll find the order in which to add the ingredients to your machine in tidbits). The sour starter gives this bold bread a subtle tangy flavor.

Divide the dough evenly among the 6 pans. The longer you let the dough rise, the softer and airier the bread will be. 1 ½ tablespoons vital wheat gluten (optional) 2 ½ teaspoons bread machine yeast.

Luckily, you can make it at home. Add in 1 cup of bread flour, cocoa and salt and continue to mix on low. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, mix together the water, oil, coloring, honey, and molasses until mixed well.

Place all ingredients in a bread machinein the order listed above and use the dough setting. If it seems too sticky add remaining flour a bit at a time until the dough is not sticking to the sides of the bowl. Add yeast mix when it gets foamy.

Place in greased loaf pan, cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Reduce water to 1 cup. It has a dark color and was a traditional german bread served in the fall and during the holidays.

In a large bowl, combine both flours, cocoa powder, yeast, sugar, and salt. Pumpernickel bread the spruce eats. Follow these easy steps (and don’t forget to get the full recipe with measurements, on the page down below):

Remove the pan from heat and add the molasses, butter, salt, sugar, caraway seeds and cocoa powder. Sift in the remaining dry ingredients and knead 10 min over low speed. Let stand 6 minutes or till bubbly.

If you’ve never made bread before, this is an excellent place to start! Add in whole wheat flour, egg, butter, molasses and honey and turn mixer on low, using the dough hook. My suggestion for making the marbled rye is to knead the dark rye dough together with a light rye dough (recipe # 43286), before shaping the loaves.

Add ingredients to bread machine in order as per your manufacturer's directions. This delicious pumpernickel bread is hearty and crusty, and it's a recipe you'll use again and again. 1 ½ cups bread flour.

Add all ingredients to shopping list. Let stand until the yeast softens and begins to form a creamy foam, about 5 minutes. The bread is prepared in two steps, and that's what gives it such great flavor.

Stir warm water, molasses, and yeast together in the bowl of a stand mixer. Divide the dough into 2 equal parts. In the bowl of a stand mixture, dissolve the yeast and 1 tbsp of sugar in warm water until mixture gets foamy.

(if using instant yeast just stir the yeast and sugar into the flour). Bake at 375° for 25 to 30 minutes. Gradually add in remaining half cup to one cup of bread flour.

Allow to proof for 10 minutes (mixture will bubble). In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Remove from pan and let cool on wire rack.

Proceed with recipe as directed. Stir to combine and set aside to cool to lukewarm. Gluten, all purpose flour, molasses, shortening, yeast, caraway seeds and 3 more.

Knead the dough with dough. Transfer the bread to a wire rack and let stand for 10 minutes. Add the molasses, butter, chocolate, vinegar, salt, rye flour and 3 tablespoons whole wheat flour.

(of course that will make 4 loaves, since each recipe makes 2 loaves).this recipe makes a wonderful dark rye bread! Once doubled in size, bake for 20 minutes. 1 tablespoon caraway seed (optional) 1 ½ teaspoons salt.

Cut four slits on the top of each bread. Meanwhile, in large mixing bowl combine 1 cup (1 1/2 if using instant yeast) warm water with molasses, cocoa, salt, oil, and rye flour. This bread is guaranteed to get rave reviews from your family.

You may go to the outback steakhouse for the red meat, but the wonderful dark bread, served before the food arrives, is definitely a highlight of the meal. If you decide to leave the color out, just add an additional 1 tablespoon of warm water to the recipe. Start with 1 2/3 cup flour.

Combine 1 cup of water with the the cornmeal in a saucepan and cook over low heat until thick, stirring often (about 5 minutes). We’re going to vary this recipe a bit using 3 types of flour but rye is in the mix. Place the mini loaf pans on dry, ungreased cookie sheets a few inches apart and let the loaves rise in a warm place until doubled in size.

Whisk in the honey, brown sugar, egg and molasses.
